Travel Tips

  • Book early to get the best fares & your prime pick of accommodation & tours for the islands, especially during school holidays.
  • Red Crab Migration & dates change year to year – contact us directly for more information to help you plan this or visit our Red Crab Migration page.
  • Cocos (Keeling) Island is heavily booked throughout July – book early!
  • Christmas Island gets heavily booked through November & December due to the red crab migration, whale shark diving and birdwatching seasons coinciding during that period.
  • Pre-book tours as part of your package. That leaves you free to plan your other adventures when you get to the islands.
  • 4WD on Christmas Island? Definitely!  Pre-book this as there are limited vehicles available. There is a taxi available, but no public transport.
  • Gates are locked to vehicles during the Red Crab migration on Christmas Island – be prepared to walk longer distances, in the steamy tropical wet season.
